Carolina Design
I am a designer. With that being said, I don’t like to be limiting with my design. Graphic design, illustration design, advertising design…. it has the word ‘design’ in it, I am game to give it a try!
The current home I own and reside in is my home which I have had the pleasure to re-design and update. From new flooring, color schemes, fixtures, furniture and more - I have always thoroughly enjoyed interior design. I’ve had a handful of people - from close friends to realtors - comment how I should offer interior design services as well.
A very close friend of mine just purchased a new home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and just like myself with a new home… she couldn’t wait to jump head first into updates! She promptly began a kitchen re-design which, I will say, came out beautiful! Adjoining the newly updated kitchen is an eat in dining room, to which she was unsure with how to do. The space is a step down, not overly large, and has beautiful doors leading to an outdoor deck which allows dreamy, natural light. Me, being the inquisitive individual that I am, couldn’t help but ask “Can I design it?”.
Instructions given? Dark is ok, but not dark gray or black. No to textured wainscoting or paneling, as her living space is already paneled. Not too farm house, as the style is fading out. The additional caveat? For it to work, visually, for their existing flooring (shown in first sample) as well as the hopeful flooring to install in the future (shown in second sample). Mission, accepted!
Enjoy the below, showing the space as it currently is, and with two flooring options. So, how did I do?
